WHO WE ARE

Marley’s Monsters is a woman-owned, US manufacturer based in Eugene, Oregon. We incorporate a zero-waste mentality into company practices by conserving resources, materials, and energy. We ensure our employees are treated with kindness and respect, have access to fair compensation and benefits, and that their achievements are celebrated. We are proud to be a BRING ReThink certified business and winner of the 2021 Bold Steps Award. This award recognizes Eugene, Oregon-based sustainable businesses and is supported by a partnership between the City of Eugene, Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis, and BRING's ReThink certification program.

WHERE WE STARTED

In 2013, Sarah Dooley, the founder and President, was on maternity leave from her career as an interior designer, eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first baby, Marley. To celebrate Marley's impending arrival, Sarah dusted off her sewing machine and crafted a monster doll from fabric scraps she had collected. Despite it being years since she had engaged in such creative pursuits, the process of creating that monster reignited her passion for crafting, prompting her to re-learn the craft and embark on designing more products. With a focus on reusable goods to support her family’s cloth diapering journey, Sarah merged her love for sewing with her commitment to sustainable living. Recognizing a gap in the market for sustainable reusable products, she launched the Marley’s Monsters brand, positioning it as a cornerstone of the reusable product industry.

In 2014, Sarah opened a studio with just a few sewists. Fast forward 11 years, and Marley’s Monsters now boasts over 50 employees, a brick-and-mortar Eco-Shop in downtown Eugene, a full-scale production facility, and an off-site woodshop. Today, Marley’s Monsters has stockists across the globe and has been featured on major media outlets such as Good Morning America, The View, Forbes, and New York Magazine, among others. This growth reflects Marley’s Monsters' evolution into a brand that embodies sustainability, inclusion, and innovation, striving to make sustainability accessible. As we continue to encourage others to "Live Colorfully & Tread Lightly", our future looks bright.
